Course Overview
Financial Analysis is a process of selecting, evaluating, and interpreting financial data, along with other pertinent information, in order to formulate an assessment of a company’s present and future financial condition and performance to be able to take business decisions towards the success of the firm and increasing the share holder`s wealth.
Course Outline
Common-size analysis and the restatement of financial statement information in a standardized form.
• Horizontal common-size analysis
• Vertical common-size analysis
Financial ratio analysis and the use of relationships among financial statement accounts to gauge the financial condition and performance of a company.
• Financial Ratios can be classified as:
• Activity ratios to measure; the effectiveness in putting asset investment to use.
• Liquidity ratios to measure; the ability to meet short-term, immediate obligations.
• Solvency ratios to measure; the ability to satisfy debt obligations.
• Leverage ratios to measure; the ability to receive a high level of return relative to the amount of fixed cost expended.
• Profitability ratios to measure; the overall effectiveness of management regarding the returns generated on sales and investment.
• Market valuation methods and earnings per share “shareholder ratios” to measure; the firm’s financial condition in terms of amounts per share of stock
